I can’t just get enough of this singer.

Just when I was getting over his last album, he launches a new one and amuses me all over again. Of which, I admit, has been on loop and shuffle for the past days.

a sneak peak to the album, through MVs.

Another Heaven

Everything

Heartbeat

Seriously, I don’t know how he can play such complicated songs with so much ease, other than the fact that he’s a genius..

Awhile back, my family had gone to a Chinese restaurant for reunion dinner.

I found a gem!! No, not the restaurant but this. Never expected we still had tolls like this given how we had gone high tech with IU units and multi purpose cashcards that conveniently beeps each time I drive cross barriers and gantries..

I’m not going to tag anyone because I know how time consuming these things can get. I got a message thru’ MSN to do this (I thought only ten people had to do, but obviously this girl has more people in mind that Facebook requires), and yes you would’ve heard me protesting from a mile away (ok, I’m exaggerating).

So I’ll end this here and you guys can choose to do this if you like- but do send the link to yours!!! A little peek into my music library…

two weeks.

two weeks till school starts. school and work. work and school.

wonder if i can handle it?

over the past two weeks, i have been trying to figure out the irony of this:
there is no real co-relation between academic success and success in the workforce.
if that is the case, why are people awarded scholarship based on academic success? how would that co-relate to them eventually proving that they are the exact people required in an organisation?

still baffles me after such a long time..

feliz nuevo año Chino (i think so?)

Happy Lunar New Year!! Gong Hei Fatt Choy!!

So anoter cycle has past, and I’m a cycle older.

What’s different over the past 12 years? Well, apart from growing older:

1. I’ve found a job with a starting pay that more respectable than a friend’s first job when she first got back after 6 years of expensive education overseas.

2. Lost some friends and made new ones. But it really doesn’t matter as long as I’ve got the most trusted lot, I’m fine. As the cliché goes, quality NOT quantity..

3. Played my way through junior college due to a severe lack of interest except for two subjects- history and economics- and worked my ass off in poly because my mother finally gave in to my passion in communication.

4. Collected $200 angpows and was subsequently ordered to hand them over to my mother, of which led to a bout of serious sulking.

5. Decided that it’s time for a serious relationship and stop kicking the sand around.

6. Fallen asleep in class but still was able to give the right answer to the question when the teaher queried me- told you that sleeping was part of multi tasking

7. Found out within 12 hours that two ex classmates- one sitting to my right, the other two seats ahead in Chinese lessons- have gotten married within the last 3 years.

8. Realized that comparing will never help you find happiness, only instability and frustration- even though sometimes it may make you feel good even for a little while.

9. Discovered why I dislike and despice some of my relatives- for their being the very type of characters I dislike. If there’s one thing I hate more than spoonfed types, it would be pretentious people. These relatives happen to fall into both categories

9. To be a person who can be loved, and yet have no expectations of a return.

10. That I can actually complete a half- marathon without training.

11. Much as I don’t like Starbucks for its lack-of-oomph coffee, it’s singarurw hot chocolate is the best comfort I can get in a drink, and the occasional vodka.

12. It isn’t always necessary to tell people you understand, because it’s how you react that helps them understand that you do.

So 12 things for the past twelve years before this Ox year.

I hope you’ve discovered and noticed the differences in yourself over the last 12 years too!!!

I’m a “Money Managing Extroverted Self-Improver”

January 4, 2009 at 3:47 pm | In Uncategorized | Leave a Comment

I took the 43 Things Personality Quiz and found out I’m a
Money Managing Extroverted Self-Improver

that sounds about right. except for the money managing part really.

because according to The Boy, Pinkie, m.w. and well a whole list of people, I’m not that fantastic when it comes to the money managing part.

but i’m happy to take “extroverted self-improver” anytime :)

Time to rethink our image huh?

I’m looking at the latest edition of 8 days (1 jan 09 issue) and I’m sorely disappointed by the angle corporate communications has decided to take on .

A pioneer in the field of offering diploma courses at a government institution, Singapore Polytechnic (my alms mater) has come a long way from our roots as a polytechnic famous for her engineering courses. With several courses that draw enough hype and attention (which has definitely helped contribute to the increase in percentage of JAE applicants applying for SP as their first choice) Ccoms has continuously focused on our engineering roots.

A case in point being, the spread in 8 days feature three students from the sciences, in predominantly engineering courses.

We have had strong growth in our course offerings, which increased the number of schools we have overall. Especially so with AY 2007/2008’s School of Design and School of Communication & Social Science.

I can safely and proudly say that Singapore Polytechnic has become a comprehensive institution. We have afterall hit the big 5-o years ago. It is time to realize that with the coming of age that we can shed our image of being an ‘engineering poly’ and finally the full-fledged, thinking, quality institution we are that continue to contribute to our nation’a growth through moulding graduates in all fields- be it design, engineering, bio-sciences, business or arts- as valuable members of the work force.

that in every adverse situation, there’s going to be a silver lining.

it may be having to deal with family problems, co-workers, crazy neighbours, unreasonable parking-lot snatchers- you name it.

for some time, i have been lamenting on how bad the ‘feng-shui’ is in my area. (theory is- when in doubt of bad situations, blame ‘feng-shui’). only to realise during another conversation it has nothing to do with ‘feng-shui’ but rather the person(s) and/or things you interact with.

so okay, we’ve eliminated the possibility of bad ‘feng-shui’. but how do we deal with the problem?
take it in your stride- No problem presents itself without having a lesson in it. like Mr Chin (my Finance lecturer of whom i’ve never turned up for most lessons) always say:

what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.

advantages will always present itself in that situation. it could be you learn to be more tolerant, or more giving. it could be you get to know more about someone else etc.

you will eventually find that problems will have a way of sorting themselves out. others will present you with options and opportunities that you never found available previously.

take things in your stride and you realise that you will sleep better and breathe easier. why worry about the problem- it’s only going to make you feel older. think about the silver lining and realise that things are going to find a way to work themselves out, and you are going to be alright.

Do not look back into the past

Once again it’s Christmas.

We are in very difficult times, and Christmas has possibly numbed the situation that we are currently in. Where gifts, family and love have possibly masked the current difficulties one may experience.

More often than not, we find ourselves reminiscing about the year that has past, sometimes even digging out past memories when we meet with old friends. Strangely, people tend to bring up the happy ones and never mention the bad/sad memories.

Everyone would speak of the future- their dreams, resolutions, aspirations. But hardly mention the present except for the usual updates of what’s happening in their lives- often bringing up those that help them to measure up against another (for example, oh! I got a promotion this year/ I made a killin’ in a deal JUST before Christmas).

Observations which bring a little resolution that I had made for years and been trying to keep to for.. well years now, to mind-

Do not look back into the past.
Enjoy the present. And pray for the even better future.

Have a blessed Christmas and an even better 2009!
